National Coloring Book Day

Celebrate with Us!

visit the library anytime from 1:00 - 6:00 pm

Choose coloring book, coloring page or bring your own, pick out colored pencils and Color - a day to relax & color

 Have you studied French? Wish you could have some speaking practice?

French Class for Adults (emphasis on spoken French)

Tuesdays, October 4 thru December 13 (no class Nov. 8), 7:00 pm.

Course would emphasize spoken French at level you need. You'd start with simple things - Introductions, family & friends - and progrss to more complex - favorite activities & your choice of discussion subjects. Grammar and structure reviewed as needed. Our aim is to give you the pleasure of expressing yourself in a foreign language.

Teacher: Janet Carper, retired French teacher.

Suggested donation: $5 per class. Materials supplied by teacher.

Defining Wilderness, Defining Maine

Maine Humanities Council Let's Talk About It discussion series

led by Adam Max-Tuchinsky, Interim Deam, College of Arts, Humanities, & Social Science, USM. The series examines the Maine Wilderness, how various people have experiences it and written about it, and how those accounts have influences Maine and shaped its identity.

Thursday evenings, 7:00 pm starting in June.

Discussion dates and titles are:

July 21: Fly Rod Crosby: the woman who marketed Maine by A. Hunter

August 4: Campfires Rekindled by George Kephart 

August 18: We Took to the Woods by Louise Dickinson Rich

Series books are available for loan at the library.

  Family Story Time 

Wednesday Mornings 10:30 am (no story time July 13 & July 20)

July 6: Movement; July 27: Olympics; August 3: Parachutes; August 10: Bubbles; August 17: Dance; August 24: Cars.

A story time for children ages 5 & under & their parents or caregivers: encouraging children and grown-ups to become actively involved in the story & participate in crafts, finger play, songs, movement. Presented by Janine.

 


Adult Coloring Book

Are you interested in a relaxing activity.

"Coloring Station"  where you can sit, relax, color - enjoy yourself anytime during library hours.

Adult coloring books with intricate designs and patterns (ex. paisleys, botanicals, mandalas, animals) offer a fun and unique way to express creativity, stimulate your brain, unwind and generate wellness. Coloring books and pencils will be available or participants can bring their own supplies. "Coloring brings you back to a simpler time, it's pleasurable, it's a chance to sit and be mindful...and at the end you get this beautiful result. You have a real sense of accomplishment."
